Multitasking: equal stress for men and women.

(June 22, 2010) A study by the Institute for Work and Health (IAG) of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) has shown that women in multitasking are on par with men. So far it has always been certain that women can do several things at the same time. A rather joking comparison was that women could make calls, put on wedding dresses and eat at the same time. As early as April, French brain researchers published studies showing that our brain can only carry out two activities at the same time. This seems to be due to the fact that we “only” have two hemispheres.

The IAG went public on Tuesday with a study in which just over 30 male and female subjects had participated. They had to do various other things while driving, such as entering a number on a cell phone. It was found that the driving ability suffered from the other activities and there were no serious gender differences or age problems.

In general, multitasking seems stressful for the human organism and, according to the results of the French brain researchers, is unnatural. When driving a car, you should concentrate exclusively on this one activity to avoid accidents. (Thorsten Fischer, naturopath osteopathy)
